Domestic products exhibition kicks off in N. Afghanistan

KABUL, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- A three-day exhibition on domestic products opened on Tuesday in Pul-e-Khumri, the capital of northern Afghanistan's Baghlan province.

Featuring an array of local agricultural goods, handicrafts, foodstuffs, and manufactured items across 70 kiosks, the event will run through Thursday, according to Mawlawi Ehsanullah Haqqani, an official of the provincial department of industry and commerce.

Designed to promote local products and bolster small-scale businesses, the fair underscores the Afghan government's commitment to fostering self-sufficiency in communities nationwide, Haqqani added.

In a related development, a week-long industrial and commercial expo opened in Kabul on Monday, where national and international entrepreneurs are showcasing their wares at more than 800 booths, including 200 stalls run by women.

The Afghan government continues to actively support and host such domestic product exhibitions across the country to advance local industries and reduce dependence on imports.
