KABUL, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police arrested a drug trafficker and discovered illegal drugs and firearms in northern Takhar province on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Nizamudin Omir said Monday.
The alleged drug smuggler was selling opium outside the provincial capital Taluqan, when he was captured. During search operations, police seized a huge quantity of the contraband and two pistols, the official said.
Earlier in an operation, police set on fire more than one ton of drugs in Takhar province last week.
