KABUL, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities started a major road construction project in southern Kandahar province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Tuesday.

Constructed at a cost of nearly 305 million Afghanis (over 4.6 million U.S. dollars), the road aims to improve transportation and enhance trade routes in the Shorabak district, the report added.

The project has created hundreds of job opportunities during its implementation.

Meanwhile, construction has begun on two water supply networks in Nawzad district of southern Helmand province.

The Afghan government plans to continue launching development, agricultural, and infrastructure projects to address economic challenges and generate employment opportunities.
