Afghan police seize illegal drugs, arrest 2

KABUL, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Police in a crackdown against illegal drugs discovered 20 kg of opium poppy and took into custody two drug smugglers in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province on Sunday, a statement of the provincial police office confirmed.

The alleged drug smugglers, according to the statement, were attempting to traffic the opium poppy from Takhar to an unknown destination, but police identified and arrested them.
