Afghan police arrest 5 over carrying illegal firearm

KABUL, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Police in a drive against outlaws to ensure security have arrested five individuals on charges of carrying illegal arms in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province, spokesman for the provincial police office Nizamudin Omir said Wednesday.

According to the official, one of the arrested was carrying a pistol and ammunition and attempting to create law and order problems, but police identified and took the group into custody on Tuesday.

Police will not allow anyone to take the law into their own hand, the official emphasized without more details.
