KABUL, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority has signed 10 new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with key domestic and international partners over the past month, the authority announced on Sunday.
Valued at 5.477 million U.S. dollars, the agreements aim to strengthen disaster preparedness, mitigate risks from natural hazards, provide urgent assistance to calamity victims, and enhance support for vulnerable populations across the country.
According to official figures, devastating natural disasters, including heavy rains, windstorms, earthquakes, lightning strikes, landslides, and flash floods, have claimed 275 lives and injured more than 350 people since late March.
