220 kV power transmission project launched in northern Afghanistan

KABUL, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Construction has commenced on a 220-kilovolt power transmission project in Dasht-e-Archi district of northern Afghanistan's Kunduz province, with an estimated investment of 535 million afghanis(8.29 million U.S. dollars), local media outlet Tolo news reported on Friday.

Funded by the Ministry of Finance, the project is expected to significantly strengthen electricity transmission and distribution capacity in the region, thereby improving access to reliable power for local communities and businesses.

Officials described the initiative as a key milestone in advancing Afghanistan's energy infrastructure, emphasizing its role in supporting economic development and enhancing public services.
