KABUL, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Heavy snowfall and freezing weather claimed the life of one person and injured two others in northern Afghanistan's Sari Pul province on Monday, said a statement of the provincial government office released on Monday night.
The ill-fated individuals were going from Kohistanat district to a neighboring region on Monday night when trapped in the snowstorm and chilly weather, the statement added.
Sari Pul province and adjoining areas have experienced snowfall and chilly weather over the past couple of days.
The meteorological department of the country has forecast more rain and snowfall in parts of Afghanistan over the next 48 hours.
