Afghanistan launches development projects in Badghis province

KABUL, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan has kicked off construction on 32 development projects across Qala-e-Naw, the capital city of western Badghis province, as well as all districts of the province, according to the official Bakhtar news agency on Monday.

The projects cover a range of public infrastructure, including administrative buildings, retaining walls, healthcare facilities, and drinking water wells. With a total investment of 315.49 million Afghanis (nearly 5 million U.S. dollars), the initiatives are expected to improve basic services and strengthen local infrastructure.

Separately, construction has also begun on a water dam in Nesh district of southern Kandahar province. Built at a cost of 282,000 U.S. dollars, the dam aims to control rainwater runoff and support agricultural activities, contributing to improved water management and farming productivity in the area.
