KABUL, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Police have discovered weaponry including assault rifles in northern Afghanistan's Balkh province and the neighboring Faryab and taken into custody three persons recently, the provincial police office said Tuesday.
Based on intelligence information, counter-terrorism police launched operations in Balkh and seized four assault rifles including three pieces of AK-47.
In another operation, police in Faryab province have discovered 13 pieces of assault rifles and pistols and arrested three individuals in the charge of keeping arms illegally over the past three days.
