30 killed in Afghanistan road accidents during Eid holiday

KABUL, April 4 (Xinhua) -- At least 30 people were killed and 155 others injured in road accidents across Afghanistan since the start of the Eid al-Fitr holiday that ended on Wednesday, said a statement of the country's General Directorate of Traffic Police released on Friday.

According to the statement, a total of 80 road accidents occurred across Afghanistan in the period, killing 30 commuters, including two women and nine children, and injuring 155 others.

Poor road conditions, reckless driving, and lack of security measures during travel are among the causes of deadly road accidents in the war-ravaged country.
