Afghanistan, Iran trade turnover reaches over 3.3 bln USD in one year

KABUL, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The volume of mutual trade between Afghanistan and Iran amounted to over 3.3 billion U.S. dollars during the Persian calendar of 1403, official data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed.

"The value of trade goods between Afghanistan and Iran reached 3.366 billion dollars in the Persian calendar year of 1403, with the export volume standing at 55 million dollars, while imported goods were worth about 3.311 billion dollars," local media outlet TOLOnews TV channel quoted the ministry's spokesman Akundzada Abdul Salam Jawad as saying on Monday.

Afghanistan's main exports include fresh and dry fruits, hand-woven carpets, saffron, handicrafts, precious and semi-precious stones and other items, while it imports medical supplies and electrical equipment.

The Persian calendar year of 1403 started on March 20, 2024, and ended on March 20, 2025.
