Land dispute kills 5, injures 11 in N. Afghanistan

KABUL, July 20 (Xinhua) -- At least five people were killed and 11 others injured when a clash broke out between two families over a land dispute in northern Afghanistan's Baghlan province, a local police official said on Sunday.

The clash erupted after the two families disputed over a piece of land in Shahr Kohna region of the Baghlan Markazi district on Saturday. As a result, five people lost their lives and 11 others, including a woman and four mediators, were injured, said Mohammad Zia Tawoos, the district governor.

According to the official, police have taken into custody eight suspects in connection with the case and referred their dossiers to the judiciary for further investigation.
