Afghanistan welcomes Kazakhstan's appointment of special envoy

KABUL, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan interim government has welcomed Kazakhstan's appointment of a special envoy to Afghanistan as a step toward enhancing bilateral relations, spokesman of the administration Zabihullah Mujahid said on Monday.

"The move reflects Kazakhstan's special attention to Afghanistan and will contribute positively to boosting bilateral relations, including diplomatic ties between the two nations," the state-owned Radio and Television of Afghanistan quoted Mujahid as saying.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reportedly appointed Yerkin Tukumov as the country's special representative for Afghanistan recently.
