Over 5,000 children with thalassemia disease registered in Afghanistan

KABUL, May 9 (Xinhua) -- A total of 5,372 Afghan children with Thalassemia disease have been registered across the country, said Mawlawi Abdul Wali Haqqani, deputy minister for health services.

The ministry has facilitated treatment for these patients with the establishment of diagnostic centers in some provinces, and the country was asking national and international organizations to help and support thalassemia patients, Tolo news quoted Haqqani as saying.

Children with Thalassemia disease from low-income families can not afford treatment in Afghanistan.
