Road accident injures 14, some in critical condition in W. Afghanistan

KABUL, May 8 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 commuters were injured, some in critical condition, as a car collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction in western Afghanistan's Badghis province on Wednesday, provincial police spokesman Sediqullah Sediqi said Thursday.

The gruesome mishap took place on a road linking Badghis to the neighboring Herat province due to the carelessness of the drivers, the news release said, adding that the injured travelers, some in critical condition, had been taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

This is the second road mishap over the past three days in Afghanistan.

In the previous traffic accident, which took place in the northern Samangan province on Tuesday, three commuters were killed and 33 others sustained injuries, some in critical condition.
