3 public welfare projects inaugurated in S. Afghanistan

KABUL, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Three public welfare projects have been inaugurated in the Kajaki district of southern Afghanistan's Helmand province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday.

The projects included the construction of two roads and an 8-km irrigation canal, with a total cost of over one million U.S. dollars, the report said.

The implementation of the projects will also create job opportunities for local residents.

The Afghan caretaker government plans to launch more development, welfare, and infrastructure projects across the war-ravaged country to tackle economic challenges and create job opportunities.
