4 killed, 7 injured in traffic accidents in E. Afghanistan

KABUL, April 22 (Xinhua) -- At least four people were killed and seven others injured in two separate road accidents in eastern Afghanistan's Ghazni province, the provincial police office said in a statement on Wednesday.

The first accident occurred on the outskirts of Waghaz district, where a car veered off the road and overturned, killing three commuters on the spot, while a fourth succumbed to severe wounds in a hospital, according to the statement.

In the second incident, two high-speed vehicles collided with a truck in Koti area of Qarabagh district, along a highway linking the southern Kandahar province to the capital, Kabul. The crash injured seven passengers, the police office added.

Authorities blamed reckless driving for both incidents. All injured passengers were taken to medical facilities for treatment.

In a separate incident on Monday, two people were killed and a third seriously injured in a high-speed head-on collision between two motorbikes in eastern Parwan province.
