Attempts to smuggle arms foiled, 95 pistols seized in E. Afghanistan

KABUL, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Afghan security forces in the fight against illegal arms and arms trafficking have intercepted a car and recovered a huge quantity of weaponry, including 95 pistols, in eastern Afghanistan's Khost province, said a statement of the national army stationed in the eastern region on Monday.

Based on an intelligence report, personnel of the national army launched operations in Nadir Shah Kot district on Sunday and discovered the contraband, the statement added.

The statement also noted that two individuals who were attempting to smuggle the firearms and ammunition were arrested for investigation.
