KABUL, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics forces have dismantled a drug processing lab and confiscated illicit drugs in northern Jawzjan and Badakhshan provinces, the country's Ministry of Interior Affairs said on Sunday.
In Jawzjan, counter-narcotics police destroyed the facility during a targeted raid, seizing 428 liters of liquid substances and 98 kg of materials used in the production of heroin, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, in Badakhshan, counter-narcotics officers apprehended one individual in Pul-e Begum region after discovering 32 kg of narcotics concealed within a vehicle intended for smuggling.
The Afghan government has ramped up its crackdown on illegal narcotics and trafficking networks, vowing to persist in its efforts until poppy cultivation and heroin production are eradicated from the country.
