Twin road accidents claim 5 lives, leave 9 injured in Afghanistan

KABUL, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Five travelers lost their lives and another was injured in a head-on collision in northern Afghanistan's Faryab province on Wednesday afternoon, provincial police spokesman Abdullah Muradi said Thursday.

The deadly mishap took place in Khan Charbagh district due to the carelessness of the drivers as a car collided with a truck, leaving five dead on the spot, the official said, without providing more details.

In a similar accident on the same day, a car veered from the road in the eastern Wardak province, injuring eight commuters, the police confirmed.
