KABUL, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Police discovered 30 kg of gunpowder in eastern Afghanistan's Kapisa province on Monday, a news release of the provincial police office said Tuesday.
The explosive object was discovered in an abandoned house in the Tagab district, the news release said, adding that no one has been arrested so far.
The security personnel have been trying to identify those responsible for keeping the explosive object in the area illegally, it said.
The security organs of the Afghan interim government, which collect arms and military equipment as part of efforts to ensure lasting peace in the country, have been calling upon Afghans to avoid carrying arms illegally.
