New homes planned for quake-affected families in Afghanistan's Kunar province

KABUL, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have launched a housing construction project to support families who lost their homes in a recent earthquake in eastern Afghanistan's Kunar province, the official Bakhtar news agency reported on Friday.

According to the report, the project, implemented in Nurgal district at a cost of 10 million afghanis (over 156,000 U.S. dollars), is expected to provide safe and stable shelter for affected families.

Beneficiaries have expressed appreciation for the initiative, saying the new homes have eased their hardships and restored hope for a better future.

Officials noted that similar humanitarian projects could be expanded to other earthquake-affected areas as part of broader efforts to ensure sustainable recovery and long-term stability.
