10 killed, 186 injured in traffic accidents in N. Afghanistan

KABUL, March 25 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people have been killed and 186 others injured in a series of traffic accidents in northern Afghanistan's Balkh province, the provincial police office said on Wednesday.

According to a statement, the casualties have been recorded since the beginning of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. The injured had been transported to the regional hospital and private medical facilities across the province for treatment.

Traffic accidents continue to pose a serious challenge in Afghanistan, often blamed on reckless driving, poor road infrastructure, and limited compliance with traffic regulations.
