KABUL, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have dismantled an eleven-member gang of thieves and recovered more than 100 stolen vehicles, the Ministry of Interior Affairs announced Monday.

According to the statement, the gang was dismantled during a 10-day military operation by police on the outskirts of Kabul, and in the provinces of Balkh, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Herat.

The arrested individuals confessed to committing armed robberies and theft, the ministry said.

As part of its efforts to ensure peace, the Afghan interim government has vowed to crack down on criminals in the war-ravaged country.
