2 road crashes claim 5 lives, injure 4 in E. Afghanistan

KABUL, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Five commuters lost their lives and four others sustained injuries in two road crashes in eastern Afghanistan's Parwan province, state-run Bakhtar News Agency reported on Monday.

In the first incident, a car collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction in Salang district on Sunday, leaving four dead on the spot and another injured, while on the same day and same district, a car overturned due to reckless driving and plunged into a river, killing one and injuring three others, the official media outlet said.

Reckless driving was cited as the primary cause of the incidents. The injured were shifted to nearby health centers for treatment, it added.
