KABUL, May 4 (Xinhua) -- One person has been confirmed dead, and four others sustained injuries due to a landslide in Kalafgan district of Takhar province in northern Afghanistan on Sunday, a statement of the provincial directorate for Public Health said Monday.

Immediately after the incident, a medical team was sent to the area to help the victims, the statement said, adding that all the injured had been shifted to the hospital.

Previously, a landslide claimed five lives in a gold mine in Takhar's neighboring Badakhshan province last week.
