Construction of new transportation terminal begins in south Afghanistan

KABUL, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Construction of a new transportation terminal has begun in Qalat city, the provincial capital of southern Afghanistan's Zabul province, state-run news agency Bakhtar reported on Friday.

At a cost of 28 million afghani (nearly 394,000 U.S. dollars), the project would be funded by the Transport and Aviation Ministry, the report said, adding that the project would be completed in eight months.

According to the report, the project will provide transport facilities for the local community.

As part of its efforts to rebuild war-torn Afghanistan, the Afghan interim government has launched development projects and called on domestic and foreign enterprises to invest in the country and create jobs for the poverty-stricken Afghan people.
