KABUL, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have rounded up more than 90,000 beggars in Kabul over the past four years as part of efforts to curb begging and maintain social order, local media outlet Tolo news reported on Sunday.
According to the report, a large proportion of those identified were organized or fake beggars. Following investigations, authorities provided monthly financial assistance to individuals found to be genuinely in need, while professional beggars were referred to relevant institutions for further legal and administrative procedures.
The Afghan government remains committed to addressing begging as part of broader efforts to improve social welfare and maintain a cleaner and more orderly society.
