KABUL, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- A quantity of military ammunition, including anti-personnel mines and hand grenades, was seized in a house in northern Afghanistan's Balkh province during police operations, the provincial police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Zari district and discovered two anti-personnel mines, five hand grenades, hundreds of bullets and other military equipment, according to a police statement released on Tuesday afternoon.

The statement did not say if anyone had been arrested.

On Sunday, local police, in similar operations, discovered and seized arms and ammunition, including five Kalashnikov rifles in Sari Pul province, which neighbors Balkh.
