KABUL, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Police discovered 66 kg of opium poppy and took into custody an individual on charge of involvement in the black business in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province on Thursday, provincial police spokesman Nizamudin Omir said Friday.

The alleged drug smuggler, according to the official, hid the contraband in the cavities of a car and wanted to take it out of the province.

Police later found the illegal object during routine checking and arrested its owner.
