KABUL, July 15 (Xinhua) -- A total of 2,313 young men have joined Afghan security forces after completing military training over the past two days, the defense ministry said.

According to the ministry, the young men received professional, military, and ideological instruction at training centers under the 209th Al-Fatah Army Corps in the north, the 207th Al-Farooq Corps in the west, and the 217th Omari Corps.

The ministry emphasized the importance of professionalism and discipline among new recruitments, describing the development as a step forward in strengthening Afghanistan's security infrastructure.

Since assuming power in August 2021, the Afghan interim government has aimed to build a national army, raising its target from 150,000 to 170,000, with a potential goal of 200,000 depending on conditions.
