KABUL, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have arrested five armed professional members of a kidnapping gang in northern Afghanistan's Sari Pul province, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Monday.

The gang members were attempting to kidnap a resident in the province, but police foiled the attempts and arrested them during an operation, the statement added.

Security personnel also recovered two pieces of weapons and a vehicle from the suspects, it said.
