KABUL, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The construction of a water supply project has been completed and implemented in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday.

The network, which costs 5.5 million afghani (about 77,770 U.S. dollars), could provide clean water to 350 families in Jalalabad city, the provincial capital of Nangarhar province.

Additionally, it will assist farmers in irrigating hundreds of acres of land in the area, the report said.

Afghanistan has been suffering from droughts for years, and the residents of big cities, including the capital city of Kabul, have faced extreme drinking water shortages over the past couple of years.
