FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Avalanche claimed the lives of two persons including a child in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, provincial police spokesman Ehsanullah Kamgar said Saturday.
The natural disaster took place on Friday in Ragh district, the official said, adding that with the support of locals, security personnel were able to discover the bodies of the victims on Saturday and handed them over to their families.
Nearly a dozen people have lost their lives due to avalanches and freezing weather in Afghanistan over the past month.
