Afghan minister meets Uzbek deputy PM to boost bilateral trade

KABUL, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi has held talks with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev during an official visit to the border city of Termez, the Afghan ministry reported on Friday.

The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral relations, increasing trade volumes, expanding transit cooperation, removing obstacles to trade and transit, and enhancing broader economic collaboration, according to a statement from the ministry.

Last week, Afghan and Uzbek business representatives signed 25 memorandums of understanding worth more than 300 million U.S. dollars in Kabul, highlighting the growing economic engagement between the two neighboring countries.
