KABUL, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Six commuters were killed and three others sustained injuries in a road accident in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province on Friday morning, a local official confirmed.

The fatal incident occurred when a speeding Fielder vehicle rammed into a truck in the Hawz-e-Madad area of Zheri district, said Mohammad Tahir, provincial director of traffic police.

Six passengers, including a woman, lost their lives on the spot, while three children were injured, the official added.

The victims, all passengers of the Fielder car, were reportedly traveling toward Kandahar City, the provincial capital, said the official, attributing the deadly crash to reckless driving and excessive speed.

Earlier this week, another accident in eastern Parwan province left four people dead and two others injured after a car collided with a truck.
