KHOST, Afghanistan, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Police in east Afghanistan's Khost province have arrested a drug trafficker and confiscated 11 kg of hashish from his possession on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Tahir Ehrar said.
The smuggler, according to the official, had placed 11 kg hashish in the cavities of a car and was attempting to take the contraband outside the province, but police on a tip-off intercepted the car and detained the man along with his illegal object.
Earlier on Saturday, police in a similar operation arrested a man and discovered 2.3 kg of heroin in his possession in northern Badakhshan province.
Personnel of the counter-narcotics police have also detained eight drug smugglers in the western Herat and 12 others in the neighboring Ghor province over the past week.
