KABUL -- Afghanistan's central bank Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) will auction 16 million U.S. dollars on Sunday to stabilize the exchange rate of the national currency, a statement of the bank said.

Afghanistan's national currency, the afghani, has been tumbling against foreign currencies, especially the U.S. dollar. The exchange rate of one U.S. dollar increased from last week's 88 afghanis to 89.50 afghanis at the moment. (Afghanistan-Central Bank)

ISLAMABAD -- A bomb went off in Pakistan's southwest Quetta city of Balochistan province on Sunday, leaving at least five people injured, police officers said.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's former president and army chief General Pervez Musharraf passed away in a hospital in Dubai after a prolonged illness on Sunday, Pakistan's military confirmed.

The Inter-Services Public Relations, the media wing of the Pakistan army, confirmed his death and said that the military leadership of the Pakistan army "express heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of General Pervez Musharraf." (Pakistan-Musharraf-Death)

SEOUL -- Nine people went missing as a fishing boat capsized in the waters off southwestern South Korea, Yonhap news agency reported on Sunday.

A report was received at about 11:19 p.m. local time Saturday (1419 GMT) that the 24-ton fishing vessel had turned over in the waters 16.6 km west of the uninhabited island of Daebichi that lies some 20 km from the southwest county of Sinan, South Jeolla province.
