KABUL, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's counter-narcotics police have destroyed three drug processing labs and arrested seven persons in three separate operations in southern Helmand province, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Monday.

The operations, according to the statement, were launched in Sangin and Marja districts a couple of days ago and as a result, three drug processing labs were destroyed and seven persons involved in drug processing and smuggling were arrested.

The statement said a large amount of illicit drugs and the equipment used in manufacturing heroin were also confiscated.

The Afghan caretaker administration has vowed to crack down on poppy cultivation, its processing and drug trafficking until the country gets rid of the menace.
