KHOST, Afghanistan, June 27 (Xinhua) -- People stand or sit on the rubble of houses damaged in an earthquake in Afghanistan's Khost province.
The 5.9-magnitude quake that struck Afghanistan Wednesday is the most serious to hit the country in more than 20 years, leaving over 1,000 people dead and more than 1,500 others injured in the Paktika and neighboring Khost provinces.
