KABUL, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The intelligence personnel of Afghanistan's caretaker government has busted an armed theft group in the country's eastern province of Laghman, the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) said Thursday.
"Personnel of the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) has arrested a three-member theft group in Dawlat Shahi district, Laghman province following a recent operation," the national intelligence agency wrote on the social media platform.
The group was reportedly involved in armed robbery and kidnapping, using force to loot valuable items from local residents' houses.
The security personnel also seized weapons from the arrested people, said the statement.
The operation was part of preventive measures being adopted to ensure a high level of security and safety in the province.
