TOKYO, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged higher Friday morning as the yen's weaker tone encouraged buying, although some investors opted to lock in gains following the market's rise this week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 25.66 points, or 0.11 percent, from Thursday to 23,275.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.61 points, or 0.16 percent, at 1,626.76.

Service and air transportation issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
