Orphanage director assaults children in care
Afghanistan News.Net Wednesday 19th November, 2008
A so-called British charity worker has been jailed for 20 years in Albania on child abuse charges.
The man ran a home for orphans in Albania, where he sexually abused the children.
David Brown, 57, from Edinburgh, founded the home in the Albanian capital, Tirana, eight years ago.
Brown, who denied the charges, was arrested in May 2006 and the orphanage was subsequently closed.
Two others who worked at the shelter were charged with molesting children.
As well as sex abuse charges, Brown was accused of overcrowding the orphanage and failing to stop others abusing the children.
It is believed Brown intends appealing the decision.
