Roadside bombing kills five in Afghanistan

Kabul, Jan 20 (Xinhua) At least five people were killed and two injured when their van hit a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan's Kandahar province, a local official said Sunday.

'The incident happened Saturday evening when the van hit roadside mines presumably planted by Taliban to attack NATO and Afghan National troops in Panjwayi district,' said Haji Shabaran, the chief of Panjwayi district in Kandahar province.
