KABUL, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's Ministry of Industry and Commerce has announced that trade between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries witnessed strong growth in 2025 compared with the previous year, local media TOLOnews reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, export earnings climbed from 122 million U.S. dollars in 2024 to 216 million dollars in 2025. The trade exchanges were conducted with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
Imports from regional partners also recorded substantial growth, rising by 43 percent over the same period. The value of imports increased from 1.679 billion dollars in 2024 to 2.399 billion dollars in 2025.
According to official data, Afghanistan's exports to Central Asian nations rose sharply, increasing by 77 percent year-on-year.
The latest figures underscore expanding economic engagement between Afghanistan and Central Asia, as regional connectivity and cross-border cooperation are increasingly viewed as key drivers of sustainable economic development.
